We do nothing else 2026 – 21 x 29,7cm, coloured pencil, oil pastel, acrylic on paper
This is what flora actually does, stripped of the arrangements we have made of it, the still lifes, the botanical plates, the careful naming. It proliferates. It presses against whatever contains it. It spirals and competes and reaches and does not stop.
We do nothing else either, underneath the categories and the representations and the designated purposes. We insist. We continue. We breach the frame that was built to hold us at a scale that felt manageable.
The violence here is not against nature. It is nature, seen without the editing that makes it habitable as image. Wild is not a romantic word. It is a description of what happens when something is allowed to do the only thing it knows how to do.
