Simply someone, anyone, who once saw you 2026

Simply someone, anyone, who once saw you 2026 – 65 x 50cm, acrylic on canvas

To have been seen. Not known, not understood, not remembered with any accuracy, just seen, once, by someone who was passing and happened to look.

The lines run across everything, kiltered, imperfect, the mechanism of partial visibility, light coming through at an angle. And in those glimpses, all of this: the scattered, various, briefly coloured facts of existence, each one occupying its small interval between the lines, each one distinct enough to be a something rather than a nothing.

This is the minimal condition the title asks for. Not love, not legacy, not full recognition. Simply someone. Anyone. The most undemanding request that is still a request, the longing stripped to its irreducible core.

The flowers don’t know if they were seen. They were there anyway, in the available light, between the lines, doing what they do. Whether anyone stopped and looked is a different question, one that belongs to whoever was passing, not to what was passed.
