Quiet at her window 2026 – 40 x 35cm, acrylic, pencil, spray paint on canvas
She doesn’t move. Whatever is happening outside is not for her to intervene in, it simply is, vivid and self-contained, doing what it does regardless of the watching.
The form doesn’t perform. It extends its filaments, opens its hood, occupies the available air with complete indifference to audience. Neither flower nor creature but something prior to that distinction, something that hasn’t yet received the name that would fix it in place.
The quiet at the window is not absence. It is the particular attention of someone who has learned that some things can only be seen if you stop trying to do anything about them. The dark masses hold their ground on either side. The green below moves or seems to. And the form at the centre continues its becoming, unhurried, unwitnessed in any way that matters to it.
Outside, always, something like this. If you are quiet enough to see it.
