Not knowing where you were 2026

Not knowing where you were 2026 – 50 x 40cm, oil, acrylic on canvas

Above and below share the same warm ground, so that what grows downward could be root or could be reflection, and the painting refuses to decide for you.

This is not confusion for its own sake. It is what disorientation actually feels like, not chaos, but a quiet, persistent uncertainty about which way is foundation and which way is mirror, where the solid ground actually is. The yellow stays simple throughout, ordinary, daffodil-bright, unconcerned with the metaphysics happening around it. It just blooms, twice, above and below, indifferent to which version is the real one.

Not knowing where you were. Not lost exactly — just suspended between two equally plausible accounts of your own position, neither one able to claim the other as illusion.
