No voice above 2026

No voice above 2026 – 24 x 18cm, acrylic, spray paint on canvas

The silence overhead, the absence of any address from above, the sky that offers nothing. Simply grey. No voice. What has arrived in the place where voice might have been is a structure: a large flat cobalt mass occupying the upper field with the weight of something much larger than the canvas it inhabits, a wall or a container that has descended to within centimetres of the ground. It does not speak. It simply takes up the space above.

The flowers grow at its base in the silence, the ooze spreads from the dark matter, the inflammation marks what the ground can no longer contain.

The ulcerous lower register and the flat blue silence above it are in immediate proximity, there is almost no distance between what the sky refuses to say and what the ground is doing in its absence.
