I turn on my side which side? 2026 – 24 x 18cm, acrylic, spray paint on canvas. Private collection, Belgium
The title turns on itself before the painting does, a question with no fixed ground to ask it from. Which side faces the light, which side faces the room, which side is even a side once turning is constant. The black band across the lower third reads as a window’s edge, or a photograph’s cut, or simply the place where looking stops being innocent.
Part of the series begun in 2013, where the human figure gives way to the flower and the flower carries what the figure once did.
