Facing other windows 2026 – 29,7 x 21cm, pencil, oil pastel on paper
Inside the dark, a white branching floral silhouette, but the structure underneath both, the form that precedes the category. Contained within its arch, it doesn’t reach outward. It simply is, interior, self-illuminating, facing whatever is on the other side of the glass.
Below, the roots descend into a different darkness, drawn more lightly than what’s above as if the underground asks for a different kind of attention, less declaration, more tracing, following the thread rather than asserting the form. The two systems mirror each other across the threshold without being the same thing. Above, the flower that’s visible. Below, the reaching that isn’t.
Other windows. Not this one, others, elsewhere, what can be seen from a different position, a different room, a different depth. The facing is the act of remaining oriented toward what you cannot fully see, across the dark, through the lines, into whatever is on the other side of where you are.
