Dear bud dear worm 2026

Dear bud dear worm 2026 – 29,7 x 20,5cm, acrylic, spray paint on paper

The title is taken from a line in Beckett’s short novel ‘How It Is’, perhaps one his most most tender addresses, the direct speech to the smallest and most overlooked forms of life, the bud before it opens and the worm that works the soil. Both are present here.

The circled forms, the flowers held within their outlines, are the most specific elements: the red anemone, the blue cornflower, the pink rose, each enclosed not to contain it but to confirm its presence, to say: this one, here, this particular bloom in this particular position. Dear bud. The worm below works on. The border breathes. The field persists above it in full and particular abundance.
