Labour MPs, Mayors, councillors, Lords, and Baronesses are sitting members on a cross-party alliance of Special Economic Zones/Freeports consortia spanning England, Scotland, and Wales. The few UK council websites where Freeports and Investment Zones are mentioned, invariably present the glossy brochure version brimming with ‘innovation, growth, prosperity, hundreds of thousands of new jobs, investment in Britain’ etc. Deregulated Special Economic Zones are currently engulfing the entire UK, but the MSM are notably quiet, the public have no idea what’s happening, many councillors are clueless, yet these seismic changes will negatively impact ordinary peoples lives for the next 25 years which is the duration of Freeport/SEZ licenses.
