One or two soundless brief moments 2026

One or two soundless brief moments 2026 – 120 x 145cm, oil on canvas

There are moments when the noise stops. Not resolved, not answered, just briefly absent, and in the gap something else becomes audible.

The painting holds that interval. Soft, atmospheric, recuperative, as if recovering the capacity to feel something other than pressure. The forms move loosely, ribbon-like, uncoerced, finding their own paths through a space that hasn’t yet been designated or measured.

But the obstacle is there. Hard-edged, geometric, imported from a different logic entirely, the logic of blockage, of structures placed in the path of movement not by accident but by design. Democracy as obstacle. The environment as obstacle. The commons as obstacle. Whatever stands between private accumulation and its next objective.

Below the fault line, the roots. Deeper than the obstacle, wider than the plan, spreading laterally through ground that no one has yet found a way to sell. They don’t announce themselves. They simply persist, connected beneath the surface to everything that appears separate above it.

One or two soundless brief moments. Long enough to remember what the noise was covering.
